A particle of dust sparkling in the sunlight?
Or maybe the silvery wing of a sprite, passing them by.
The power to observe such enchantment,
Is a gift only in the possession of children.

A soft wind rustles through the trees,
catching the ribbon in her hair.
Light hits the surface of the water.
A shimmering curtain between worlds.
Pasts and futures converge.
Happiness is always within reach.

Last weekend I bid farewell to Singapore Musical Box Museum, as it is the last day of my exhibition. It’s really been a fantastic collaboration and I’m very appreciative to the team there, who have all been so kind and made me and my paintings feel at home.
Thank you also to all of you who have taken the time to come to see my work. It’s been wonderful to meet you all and I’ve been really touched by all of the kind messages that have been left in the guestbook.
During the exhibition I have found homes for 5 of the 8 paintings and I’ve also been asked to complete a number of new commissioned works, for which I’m very grateful. As promised, together with the Musical Box Museum, I will be donating part of the proceeds from these sales to a local children’s cancer charity.
One of the highlights from the last few days of the exhibition was a special commission of “Harry” was presented as surprise gift from Hugh to Vicki on her birthday. To be a part of the creation of these happy moments is a great reminder of why I do this and it gives me energy to do more.
So now onwards to Maduro SG! Exciting times ahead!
Your world looks complicated.
Wine bottles, menus and iPhones.
There’s much more magic in my world;
A fluffy dog, an army of ants, a squishy orange.
The smell of the sea.
So I’ll stay here just a little while longer to explore.
Although you are always welcome to join me.

Sweet sticky iced donuts…
They smell delicious.
I’m pretty sure that’s not normal human food.
Maybe it’s his birthday?
I’d better pretend I haven’t seen.
I’ll wait until he’s finished and then I’ll lick his fingers!
***Updated AUGUST 18th***
A further update on Maduro. Now that F&B venues have opened again for vaccinated groups of 5 people in Singapore, I will be at Maduro on the 19th and 24th of August. I will give a short talk and introduction to my work and there will be an introduction to a special collaboration with renowned composer and music producer Ricky Ho. Contact the venue directly to reserve a place!
I’m delighted to announce that I have found a new home for my paintings.
Soirée – Unconventional. Filled with curated art, music, cocktails and food. Surrounded by lush greenery. Maduro is chic, sleek and definitely on fleek. But importantly, it is balanced and welcoming. A place to feel good with friends and indulge in some of life’s rewards.
Maduro is the brainchild, and in many ways the sum of life experiences, of the indubitable Mr P.
Piano player, self-confessed cigar aficionado and now, I’m happy to say, friend.
My paintings will be on display and on sale at Maduro for the foreseeable future. I’m excited and humbled to be able to show them in this of all venues. I’ve often admired the art here, so when Mr P. tracked me down through my exhibition at the Musical Box Museum, and expressed an interest in my work, I was suitably honoured. Having got to know Mr P. over the last few months, I have a great deal of respect for him and feel connected to this place through his creativity.
I am looking forward to a time hopefully not too long away, when the music plays once more, the drinks flow and the aroma of a good cigar wafts gently on the evening air.
I’m hoping this will be the start of something enduring and it is my intention to collaborate further with Mr P. and the fabulous Maduro team. So watch this space!
In the meantime, If you get a chance to visit Maduro when they re-open (all being well from the 21st June) then grab it with both hands, and you will also get to see my paintings looking quite content in their sublime new surroundings!
Reservations can be made directly through their website

Due to the increased safety controls in Singapore, the Singapore Musical Box Museum will be changing its opening hours and requesting that all visits to my Exhibition are by booking only during the remainder of this lockdown period.
From May 21st to June 13th the Museum Gallery will be open from Monday to Sunday 11:30am to 4pm and closed on Tuesdays. To make an appointment, call or WhatsApp on +65 98646021.
I’m pleased to announce that due to the restrictions over this period, the exhibition will be extended for another month until July 10th.
I’d like to thank everyone who has come down to the museum to see my work. It has been very special to meet many of you and humbling to receive your praise and comments. I feel very grateful for this event and am thankful to the Museum for their support.
As a reminder, the paintings on display are all for sale (excluding 3 which have already been sold!) If anyone would like to discuss purchasing one of the paintings (also shown below) or commissioning a new piece, please feel free to contact me directly via email at tsuyumi@heymiwa.com
A hundred thousand shining shells to discover.
Tiny brown crabs and lengths of slippery seaweed.
But it’s getting late, and the warmth of the sun is slipping behind the hills.
Time to go home.
Besides, there will be more to collect tomorrow…

The distant rasp of the burners.
The warm glow of the balloons against the dawn sky.
I wonder what it is like to fly?
Up there with just a basket beneath your paws.
I’m sure I would be brave enough, if we did it together…
