Recently I have been lucky enough to collaborate with the renowned and accomplished composer, Ricky Ho, who has created two pieces of original music for two of my paintings.

I think the music fits beautifully with the paintings and act as an extension of the work.

Ricky has kindly given me permission to include the music with the paintings on this site so you can enjoy the experience.
The World Outside

The World Outside

Casting open the shutters, light bursts into the once dark room. Summer sunshine and birdsong disrupt the gloom. I can feel my heart beating as I lean further forward to breach the barrier between dark and light. I inhale the fresh summer air, fragrant with the smells of the abundant foliage. A weight lifts from my soul.

Journey Home

Journey Home

Returning home after a day, a month, a thousand years. The evening light plays tricks on my old eyes. For a moment I thought I saw you waiting. Because If not for you, then why do I come home at all

I’m really pleased with the portrait. The way Tsuyumi captures light and mood is very perceptive. I don’t normally like pictures of myself but this reminds me of a feeling and I like that very much.

Tsuyumi captures her subject and the moment so wonderfully well, then she enhances it with her use of light and colour with delightful results.

Tsuyumi has an amazing ability to reproduce a fleeting moment of emotions through her sensitive brush strokes and creative use of color. I really enjoy my first portrait and relive that joyful moment every time I lay my eyes on it. Thank you Tsuyumi!

HELLO, I AM TSUYUMI

Art has always been a big part of my life. At a young age I became proficient at calligraphy and started painting. As a teenager I became involved in television and acted in various Japanese dramas, before entering Tama Art University to study Theatre and Art. I already had a passion for travel at this stage, and took an opportunity to spend some time studying art history in Italy. After spending some time in Australia and returning to Japan I found myself working as a radio and television announcer in Tokyo, setting my brushes aside.

Now in Singapore, in a new chapter of life, I have dusted off my easel and rediscovered my love of painting. In the past I have used many different mediums, but I am currently using acrylics which I find better suited to the tropical atmosphere. Colour and light are very important to me as my work is an expression of feeling. This is often interpretive rather than photo-realistic and because of this I prefer not to constrain my painting style. I hope you enjoy my work. Please contact me if you would like to own some!
